What are the climbing events during the Olympics?

Lead Climbing Event

The goal of this event is to complete a route without falling. Participants only have one attempt. Additionally, they must complete the route within a maximum time of 6 minutes.

During the Olympics, the route is at least 15 meters long and 3 meters wide.

Participants are judged on the height reached as well as the time taken.
This is therefore an event of endurance and technique.

Bouldering Event

The goal of this event is to complete a total of 4 walls without a rope.

Although "without a rope" might seem intimidating, the walls do not exceed 4 meters in height, and the mats used for landing are specifically designed for this discipline, making them different from those used in lead climbing.

Participants have a limited number of attempts, and the goal is to complete the route with the fewest attempts.
This is therefore an event of physical ability and technique.

Speed Climbing Event

The goal of this event is to finish as quickly as possible, as the name suggests.

Two climbers compete head-to-head on a specific 15-meter-high route.

This is therefore an event of power, as climbers must be able to "jump" from hold to hold.
