RC Strasbourg was founded in 1906 under the name "FC Neudorf". In 1919, it took the name of Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace. The club obtained professional status in 1933 and established itself as one of the best French clubs. In 2011, financial problems caused an administrative demotion with a loss of professional status and judicial liquidation. He returned to the professional world in 2016 and Ligue 1 in 2017. With its victory in the League Cup in 2019, the club qualified for the second preliminary round of the Europa League after 13 years of absence from continental competitions.
